A leisurely hiking tour on the 1674 m high Hochfelln near Bergen in Chiemgau close to the A8 to Salzburg. We meet at 8.50 am at the entrance to the valley station of the Hochfelln cable car, buy our tickets (not included in the seminar price) and enjoy the 15-minute gondola ride. Once at the top, we look for a nice spot and start with specific and relaxing exercises for posture, breathing and well-being to prepare us for the right singing and yodeling technique. During an easy hike on the summit circular trail, you can also find out how corals and sea shells got to the summit of the Hochfelln. We will make repeated stops along the way and let traditional, original and further developed yodels, juchitzers and yodeling songs ring out. Depending on the group composition and interests, the individual mix may also include a cowboy, rock or reggae yodel.

With guitar accompaniment and rustic rhythm instruments, we will finally make our collective singing even more varied and lively. Fun and joie de vivre should always be at the forefront. The program and the hikes along the Hochfelln remain light, playful, varied and as individual as possible. During the approx. one-hour lunch break, we enjoy the benefits of traditional Chiemgau hospitality in one of the restaurants and mountain huts on the Hochfelln. In the afternoon we will deepen what we have learned and work specifically on vocal strength and voice position.

The entire program is spiced up with many little things that cannot be listed here. The highly coveted yodeling diploma is the reward for successful completion. From 4 p.m., everyone can return to the valley by gondola or, if they are fit enough, on foot. Mountain boots and weatherproof clothing are a prerequisite and you should also bring something to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger in between. Please bear in mind that it can be a few degrees cooler and a little windier on the mountain than down in the valley.

Our meeting point, the Haus im Zauberwald, is located in the middle of a truly magical landscape, where many a Ganghofer film has been shot. Those who prefer to stay in the valley instead of hiking on the Kampenwand will find themselves in a very quiet location in the middle of an idyllic meadow with a small stream. The municipality of Raumsau in the Berchtesgaden National Park was the first German village to receive the special “Mountaineering Village” award, which stands for sustainability and love of nature.

There are optimal conditions for learning the art of yodelling: tangible power of nature, hiking trail through the magical magic forest with a magnificent panoramic view of Watzmann, Hohen Göll and Hochkalter. The excellent hospitality of the Bartels family recently retired, but neat overnight stays are still possible there. A wonderful starting point for our seminar.

We meet at 08:30 (day program) or 10:00 (half-day program) at the parking lot in front of the house in the Zauberwald This special restaurant in Berchtesgadener Land is located in the middle of a landscape that was created by a landslide 1,000 years ago, at the Bergsteigerdorf Ramsau. Right at the parking lot we start (depending on the weather) with a short hike through the magic forest, e.g. to Hintersee with Alpine National Park, to Hirschbichl or Wartstein, so something for the thirst and the small hunger in between should also be in the luggage.

We find a nice spot and start with specific and relaxing exercises for posture, breathing and well-being to prepare for proper singing and yodelling technique. On the well-kept hiking trail through the magical forest we will stop again and again and together let original, traditional and further developed yodels, juchitzers and yodelling songs resound. Depending on the group composition and interest, the individual mixture of songs may include a cowboy, rock, or reggae yodel.

With guitar accompaniment and rustic rhythm instruments we will make our common musical pieces even more versatile and lively. The fun and joie de vivre may always be in the foreground. The program design and the hikes remain light, playful, versatile and as individual as possible. For the lunch break of about one hour we will go to a restaurant.

In the afternoon we will deepen what we have learned and work specifically on vocal strength and voice position. The whole program is spiced with many little things, which cannot all be mentioned here. The successful completion of the course is rewarded with the coveted yodeling diploma. Since we will like to be (at least partially) in nature even in changeable weather, mountain boots, weatherproof, warm clothing and appropriate equipment are in any case advantageous.

Return to the starting point is at 16:00 (day program) or 14:00 (half-day program).

Supplement to the advanced seminar on the Kampenwand:

In the advanced seminar, we work specifically on rhythmic security, vocal strength, vocal placement, confident performance presence and text improvisation. The prerequisite for participation is a previously attended one-day seminar or corresponding previous knowledge.

My well-known and technically more demanding yodels “Chiemgau Reggae”, “Cowboy Yodel” and “Yodel of Joy” are fixed practice components in the advanced seminar.

The mountain village Sachrang (740m) is located between the Chiemsee and the Tyrolean border, framed by the mountains of the Chiemgau. In Sachrang the guest is spoiled by the alpine culture and nature. Forests, meadows and mountains shape its character. Sachrang is a picturesque place of pilgrimage (Ölbergkapelle), which should not be missed as a destination for a hike around the Kampenwand.

We meet at 10.00 am (day program) or 1.00 pm (half-day program) at the parking lot of the Müllner Alm. During a short hike from this wonderful mountaineering village, we will learn traditional, original and refined yodels and juchitzers from the Alpine region. Our big focuses are fun and natural learning, so laughter is always allowed. With selected exercises for breathing, relaxation, posture and tone formation we will be introduced to the correct yodelling technique in a cheerful and playful way.

Tailored to the individual needs of each course participant, we will learn yodelling songs which we will also accompany rhythmically and possibly add our own lyrics to and perform. The hike offers us a very relaxed insight into the mountain world of the Chiemgau Alps, which helps us to use the power of nature for our yodel songs. Depending on the group composition, adventurousness and interest, the individual mix of our songs may include a cowboy, rock, or reggae yodel, and we may even venture into free improvisation.

In the afternoon we will deepen what we have learned and work specifically on vocal strength and voice position. The entire program is spiced up with many little things that cannot be listed here. Mountain boots, weatherproof clothing, a good snack and appropriate equipment should always be in your luggage. And at the end of the course you will receive the coveted yodeling diploma.

Return to the starting point is at 17:30 (day and half-day program).

How to get there: By car from the A 8 Munich – Salzburg to the Bernau or Frasdorf exit, then simply head towards Aschau and through the beautiful Priental valley to Sachrang.

By train to Prien am Chiemsee – then Aschau (in Chiemgau) – and from there the bus to Sachrang.
